Green Pizza

Healthy and pizza aren't usually used in the same sentence. We found a way to make that happen though! Thanks to Eating Well Online, we found an amazing recipe. We were a little skeptical of Arugula, a spinach-like green that has a very strong smell to it. After it was cooked, it was great.

One thing we did learn is to check the pizza early and often, because homemade pizza's can burn easily. It was a little crispy, but it was still very very good, not to mention healthy and yup, you guessed it: green.

Grilled Chicken Burritos with Mango Salsa

I just have to say that these were the best burritos I've ever had... and the hardest to make! This journey is going to be harder then I expected, but I'm sure it will get easier.

First of all, one thing I found out quickly is there are two ways to cut a mango: a right way, and a wrong way. I chose the wrong way. It turns out, there is a quite large seed pod in the middle of the mango that is harder then a kitchen knife. Who knew? Also, if the mango is too ripe, it is really mushy. I learned how to cut a mango here. She's awesome.

Even with our mango disaster, these burritos were amazing. Even though it took 20 minutes longer then the expect 30 minutes on Rachel Ray's website, it was definitely worth it. I recommend this dish to anyone.

A healthy perspective...

Hello friends, family, and googlers. My name is Bryce, and I have an obsession with food. This cult-like devotion of mine began like many other typical American citizens. Growing up, McDonalds, Sunday All-You-Can-Eat pizza buffets, and Twinkies were the norm as a child growing up in the 1990's. Life was SO good.

Then I graduated high school. Top Ramen, ordering Pizza, and Mac & Cheese replaced the daily routine of mine (just like many college students). OH, I forgot to mention.. SODA! Mt. Dew, Pepsi, Coke... If I didn't have one of these within 24 hours, I had a craving for them.

What's really sad, is everything I just told you about myself, is extremely normal in the world we live in. We as a society choose to feed our cravings to the max when when we are younger, simply because we don't see the cost until it's too late.

Okay, enough rambling. The point of this blog, is to keep a log of the dinners Leah (My beautiful, patient, loving wife) and I have decided to cook day in and day out. We will be trying some dinners we've never eaten before, and some we have. But the ultimate goal is to eat healthy foods everyday, so it becomes a lifestyle for us and our future family.

I've read that what you eat can determine your life span, up to 40 years!!! That means what I eat can determine whether I live to see age 50, or age 90... or beyond. That's just too important for us to forget and move on. So here we go... wish us luck! (PS: We would love to have people suggest healthy foods to us that we should try!)
